For the concept of Spiritual Enlightenment to have any meaningful relevance to our daily existence, we must drag it from the shadowy realm of the supernatural and reframe it in a way that is accessible to everyone. As explored in Part 1 – Part 4 On Enlightenment, we must jettison the notion that Enlightenment is the purview of the god-like chosen few, and instead embrace the idea that it is accessible to each one of us. In fact, we experience Enlightenment anytime our thoughts, feelings, and actions reflect our spiritual center.
The struggle occurs when our biological mind is out of synch with our spiritual mind. Therefore, the path to greater enlightenment is simply the process of training your brain to filter out the negative programming caused by socialization and billions of years brain development, so you become a more effective conduit for spiritual energy.
This process takes time and effort. . . a lot of time and effort! It does not, as described in many mythological accounts, occur in an instant. If you are waiting for a magical moment that will provide perfect clarity, wisdom, and peace, then you are missing the boat. Spiritual Enlightenment emerges step by step—moment by moment—thought by thought—lifetime by lifetime.
Every person, in each lifetime is engaged in this process of transformation. Obviously, some are more evolved than others, but it is important to realize that everyone is participating in this grand project. Yes, even the most ‘unenlightened’ among us. They too are desperately trying to solve the puzzle of linking mind and body to spirit.
This struggle defines our purpose. We are here to evolve as much as we possibly can, and to help others evolve. As imperfect as we are, we are slowly perfecting the connection between energy and matter.
Despite how it might appear, humanity is far more enlightened now than any other point in history. And our connection to Spirit is compounding with each passing moment. Sometime in the future, this transformation of energy will create a radical shift in humanity. . . a ‘tipping point’ which will initiate the final stage of our development. No longer enslaved by our primitive brains, we will become a pure conduit that allows our energetic being to fully enjoy the sensual wonderland that is this material realm.
