Are You an Avatar?
We Are More Than Our Bodies
From the beginning, we human beings have pondered our origins and tried to find meaning behind our unique place in creation. Why are we alone in our ability to reflect on life and our place within the greater context of existence? By way of providing context around this mystery, many religions, and spiritual traditions (such as Buddhism) subscribe to the notion that our consciousness is separate from our physical form. Our true self lies outside of our material form. It occupies an other-dimensional space beyond our body and mind. Indeed, that the “real” you exists outside of your brain and body is the impetus for the concept that we are physical avatars representing a greater consciousness beyond this physical realm.
The body you see in the mirror, what you refer to as “self,” is a temporary material expression of the same energy matrix that created every bit of this universe. At the moment you were conceived, a piece of this energy made a conscious decision to jump into this material dimension and begin a life journey as you. From the moment of conception until your death, your physical/material incarnation remains connected to Source-Energy. Both your human form and your characteristic sentience are a direct byproduct of this connection. You are a physical manifestation of Creative-Energy in this material realm—pure energy converted into matter.
As an avatar for Source-Energy, your unique capacity for conscious thought serves as an energy pathway that allows you to connect with Source and channel this Creative-Energy into the universe. Let’s take this concept one step further. Not only are we creations of Source-Energy and portals for channeling this energy into the world, but each of us is also a direct representative of Source-Energy in material form. Let this distinction soak in: You are a physical manifestation of Source. You are the embodiment of God. You are an avatar representing Source-Energy in this material dimension!
Defining Your Energetic and Material Forms
The prospect that each of us is an avatar for the same divine force that is responsible for all creation is daunting. After all, most human beings do not behave like benevolent hosts. In fact, most of us cannot represent anything close to our imagined concept of a Divine Creative Force. To gain perspective on this gap between our human condition and our Spiritual-Core, it is important to understand the fundamental differences between our energetic and material forms. We often refer to the energetic version of self as “Soul” or “Spirit.” Broadly speaking, your Spiritual-Self is your “True-Self”— who you really are in the core of your being. You emerged into this life from your Spirit. Not only does this relationship provide a direct connection to the creative power of Source, but your Soul also sets the agenda for this lifetime and serves as the authentic (will of God) mind behind your physical representation. Your Spirit chose the how, when, where, and why of this lifetime and gives you access to the tools for accomplishing your objectives.
You picked how you are represented in this lifetime (i.e., your body). You determined when on the human timeline to enter physical existence. You picked the place, family, tribe, and culture where you wanted to enter this life. You decided on the goals for this life—the why behind your existence. You chose all of this to give yourself the best opportunity to achieve your objectives for this lifetime—to take the next steps toward perfecting your link to Source-Energy.
In contrast to your Spiritual-Self, your physical form (i.e., your human body) represents your unique Spiritual-Energy in this material realm—it is an avatar designed to engage your Energetic Self with the sensorial touch points of the material universe. We created our unique avatar for two primary reasons:
• First, the body gives our Spirit-Selves access to the cornucopia of sensual experience available in this universe. It is possible that these tactile, matter-oriented, sensorial experiences are only accessible through matter-dominated dimensions such as this one.
• Second, our physical form serves as a receiver and transmitter through which we transfer other-dimensional energy into this realm and back to our Energetic-Core. This movement of energy is the catalyst behind humanity’s amazing ability to create. In every moment, we are channeling this energy to create and develop reality in this material dimension.
Our Brain/Mind Is Still a Work in Progress
The crown jewel of the material body is the conscious brain/ mind. In one respect, the mind is an advanced biocomputer. It is a machine capable of storing massive amounts of data (as information, feelings, memories, etc.) and using this data to create programming that produces an unlimited array of material objects, concepts, actions, and ideas. However, the human brain serves the much higher purpose of facilitating the flow of Creative-Energy into this material realm.
Optimally, this flow of Creative-Energy would be a pure reflection of your Spiritual-Self. However, at this point in human development, our physical mind and body are still developing the ability to connect with our Spiritual-Self and to channel its energy into reality. As a result, some of the energy you channel may align with your spiritual objectives, while other energy might channel into areas that diverge from these objectives. Many of us spend massive amounts of our creative potential in the frivolous pursuit of satisfying the demands of our insatiable biological brain instead of aligning with the desires of our Spirit. Everyone has the “potential” for establishing a seamless connection with the realm of Spirit and creating a life that is a direct reflection of Spirit. However, as we go about the business of being human, we are still developing this capacity.
Aligning with Spirit Is Beneficial
The degree to which we are aligned with our Spiritual-Self has a direct bearing on the quality of our human experience. When our thoughts, actions, and behaviors reflect our Spiritual-Core, we experience the fulfillment, peace, and happiness characteristics of Core-Energy. When we do not reflect our Spiritual-Core, we struggle against the worst aspects of being human. As always, each of us is free to choose our path. Does your avatar evolve its connection to Spirit in this lifetime, or does it “kick the can down the road” to evolve in another incarnation? Do you experience a wondrous, joyful lifetime, or do you wallow in misery? The choice is yours.
